Last picture I'm modeling these along with my sterling diamond studs, see separate listing for those. I have super sensitive ears, haven't been able to wear earrings for years, and these never bother me. I even sleep in them!
My earrings have a small, 1mm ball on the ends to help hold them in place. I do this because it helps keep the backing secure, and it gives you the option to not have to wear a back on the earrings. The gauge is simply too small for your typical ear nut to stay put without the security of the ball on the ending.
The metal is sterling so yes, it will tarnish over time just like sterling silverware. To bring back the original shine simply buff gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.
