I use microfiber suede lace because it has a very soft, velvet feel. It will not crack, weather, or smell and is super strong. Just like leather, only better because it lasts longer, a it's cruelty free! Washes easily in warm soapy water. I have black, gray blue, peach, and yellow as pictured.
